Visit the site Bold new website for a growing charity working to humanise healthcare.

The Point of Care Foundation (PoCF) are working to radically improve the way people are cared for and to support the staff who deliver care.

The brief

As a young and growing health charity, PoCF had outgrown their previous website and were looking for a new one that could present their emerging set of programmes in an engaging and accessible way. They also wanted to emphasise their evidence-based approach and demonstrate their widening reach across the UK.

Our approach

We needed to ensure that the website would be flexible enough to deal with PoCF’s evolving offer to its audience of healthcare staff, funders and policy makers. The initial discovery work allowed us to develop a strong understanding of the behaviour of these groups and the strategic objectives of the charity over the coming years. Armed with this understanding, we carefully developed a website structure that will continue to grow with the organisation.

“The team were open and clear throughout the project, offering support and advice and keeping development on schedule. We now have a far more engaging website which also helps us to show our impact – those are both invaluable for a small organisation like ours.”

Communications Manager

Existing audiences have some familiarity with PoCF’s range of programmes, but for new audiences the relevance of these would in many cases not be immediately obvious. By introducing a new ‘areas of work’ type of content (e.g. ’Supporting staff’ or ‘Compassionate care’), we offered them an accessible route into the work of the charity. From these pages they are carefully signposted into relevant programmes and other types of content.

In a short time PoCF has already demonstrated impressive reach by working with 150 healthcare organisations across the UK through its Schwartz Rounds and Patient and Family Centred Care Programmes. Displaying these locations on a map underlines this reach and offers potential new partners the reassurance that comes from knowing that other organisations in their area are working with PoCF.

A clear focus on evidence

Early on in the project it became clear that a point of differentiation for PoCF and something their audience really valued was the clear focus on evidence to support their interventions. We made this a core part of there website structure with a library, featuring evidence and practical resources developed by the charity and a curated selection of high quality content from other organisations. The library features journal articles, reports, case studies, toolkits and videos and is filterable and searchable by keyword. The content is dynamically places across the website according to the programmes and areas of work it is related to.
