We’re all affected by the quality of the air that we breathe, yet 99% of us are exposed to air that is harmful. A challenge for our times that affects us all. So we were thrilled at the  opportunity to partner with Clean Air Fund on their new website.

A dynamic and growing organisation, Clean Air Fund wanted to create a website with a more energetic look and feel and which brought their brand and new strategy to life online. They were looking for a partner to act as an extension of the team, leading on the design and build of the site.

We worked with the team and external stakeholders to unpick the new strategy – breaking it down into ‘why’, ‘what’ and ‘where’. Our information architecture reflects this, showcasing Clean Air Fund’s work through interlinking themes, geographies and outputs. We tested our thinking in workshops, giving staff and users the opportunity to challenge us on our proposed content model and taxonomies. This ensured that they would accurately reflect the organisation’s work both now and into the future.

The design approach we took is a real step change in Clean Air Fund’s visual brand approach. We introduced a wider colour palette and a more robust font pairing to allow for a more nuanced approach to content and messaging, and a more coherent user interface design. We also explored how images could be utilised in a more expansive way, to provide context and impact, whilst also being more sustainable for staff to maintain. Finally, we introduced a clearer typographic hierarchy, and ensured that the new design met fundamental accessibility standards.

We think the close collaboration with Clean Air Fund has led to a website that makes the most of their brand while communicating their goals more effectively. We’re looking forward to seeing how this vibrant organisation continues to grow and develop.
